Just in time for Halloween, Silly Farm has introduced a line of kits for moms and dads. They include sample sizes of Snazaroo paints, which are among the best and safest on the market, as well as a book illustrating how to do several great designs by world famous painter Marcela Murad. This is a great idea for parents who want to add face painting to their childrens’ Halloween costume at a reasonable price. Each kit will do several children, too! I often have clients ask me where to buy real face paints for special occasions, but unfortunately the cost of a full set of professional paints is prohibitive. So thanks Sillyfarm for giving us this option!
PLEASE don’t ever paint your child with tempera or acrylic paints – they are sometimes labeled non-toxic, but that refers to accidental ingestion, and does NOT mean the paints are safe for skin! Rashes and allergic reactions are common, and the paints can be difficult to remove. And NEVER use craft glitter for face painting – it is made of tiny metal pieces which are extremely sharp and can scratch the cornea if the glitter gets into the eye! Cosmetic glitter, available at stores like Claires and Sally’s, uses round pieces of polyester, and is safe for use on the face.
Please feel free to ask me if you have questions about face painting your kids; although I do usually accept a certain number of private appointments for Halloween day, obviously not everyone can do that!
Let’s all have a safe and fun-filled Halloween!
Liz
